Thank you Tim for your ongoing realism and emphasis.

Ref “Much more serious effort therefore must be made to ensure that the poorest and the most marginalised of the world’s people should have access to the Internet.” I have a couple of references which are completely up to date and relevant to this struggle to provide access, so they may be of interest.

The blog “Affordable Internet Access” http://dadamac.net/blog/20130512/affordable-internet-access was posted on 12th May 2013. It explains that John Dada of Fantsuam Foundation is leading the Kafanchan Broadband consortium, which comprises eight rural based education and faith based institutions, to negotiate for cheaper broadband access for the Kafanchan area. This would be an extension of the service already provided in connection with the Cisco Academy at Fantsuam. The blog includes details of costs.

Another related post “Cisco – Bottom-up meets top-down, sideways” - http://dadamac.net/blog/20130503/cisco-bottom-meets-top-down-sideways was posted on 3rd May 2013 and is about the ongoing struggle to provide relevant training – which Fantsuam Academy has been doing since 2004.

If anyone is interested in connecting more closely with what really happens on the ground, in order to take action or simply to understand the problems that need to be overcome, then John Dada and I are ready and able to help them. Reading “Dadamac – the Internet-enabled alternative to top-down development” https://dadamac.telegr.am/blog_posts/dadamac-the-internet-enabled-alternative-to-t is a good place to start.

Its funny how many people that have had a bad experience by accidentally damaging or losing their iPhones that are now insuring them. For just a few pounds a month an iPhone can be covered for all eventualities. At my site www.insure-my-mobile.co.uk you can compare quotes from different insurers to find the best deal. Sorry for the blatant plug by the way....
